June 21, 2017PRINCE HARRY JOINS IFTAR AT JAMIYAH
Jamiyah Singapore had the pleasure of having His Royal Highness from Britain, Prince Harry, at our iftar session held at Jamiyah Children’s Home, Darul Ma’wa (JCH) last Sunday, 4th June 2017.
Accompanied by the President and Vice-President 1 of Jamiyah Singapore, Dr Mohd Hasbi Abu Bakar and Dr HM Saleem, respectively, and British High Commissioner, Mr Scott Wightman, Prince Harry was welcomed with the kompang, followed by a performance of the traditional Malay martial arts, Silat, led by former world Silat champion and mentor to JCH’s Centre of Excellence, Academy of Silat, Mr Sheik Alau’ddin bin Yacoob Marican.
“Ramadan is a time of reflection, for spending time with family and friends, while giving support to those who are less fortunate. We are honoured that Prince Harry was able to join us for this iftar, and to meet with the young people that are part of the Jamiyah Singapore community.” said Dr Mohd Hasbi Abu Bakar.
Right before the breaking of fast, the Secretary General of Jamiyah Singapore, Mr Rafiuddin Ismail expressed our deep sentiments and sympathies to the family of the victims of the London terror attack recently.
“Our thoughts go out to the families of the victims of the London terror attack last night. Let peace and harmony prevail in communities all over the world.”
A total of 80 distinguished guests, including members of the Muslim Youth Ambassador of Peace (MYAP) were present at the event.
