27th Exemplary Mother Award Ceremony 2019

Congratulations to Mdm Jamalia Shariff and Ms Peria Nayakhi for winning the 27th Exemplary Mother Award (EMA) and the 2nd Exemplary Young Mother Award 2019, respectively.

The 27th EMA Ceremony was graced by President Halimah Yacob and was held on Saturday 5th October 2019 held at Swissotel The Stamford. President Halimah presented the trophies and Presidential Shield to the Winner of EMA. Senior Parliamentary Secretary of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Trade and Industry, Dr Tan Wu Meng was also present. SPS Dr Tan presented the trophies to the EYMA finalists and winner.

In her speech, President Halimah said that today’s young women enjoy many opportunities and often have to play multiple roles and called for more support for women. “When women succeed, families and communities also prosper. When various stakeholders such as employers, Government and community organisations work together to support women in their roles, there can be better outcomes for all.”

Praising all mothers, Dr Mohd Hasbi Abu Bakar, President of Jamiyah Singapore said, “There is no one perfect way to be a good mother since each situation is unique. Each mother has different challenges, skills and abilities, whatever the case may be. It is universally regarded that all mothers, in principle and in faith, loves their children deeply and will do whatever needs to be done for their children’s sake.”
